Dear Universe,
Being Egyptian, I make it a point to be well read and knowledgeable on plagues. George Santayana and "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" and all that. I know about the waters turning to blood, I can discourse on the unhealable boils, I am familiar with the frogs. I consider myself to have taken all reasonable precautions where plagues are concerned.
Why, then, do I find myself afflicted of late with a plague of idiots and assholes? Have I not learned enough of the past? Is it simply my unavoidable destiny as an Egyptian? I am Jewish, too, you know! Personally, I would have preferred some treefrogs, myself -- they are so cute!
Anyway, I will hope that the recent deluge is deemed sufficient and that the current plague will abate shortly. If not, I may have to rescind my current attitude of polite tolerance and begin to respond by smiting. No one really likes unnecessary smiting, so perhaps a dry spell is in order where idiots and assholes are concerned?
Thank you for your time and for your kind consideration of this matter.
Best regards,
Nomad

If, despite my disclaimer, you insist on persisting in taking my comments personally, the most productive course of action may be to contemplate what you might have done... then use the results of your meditations to become a better person. Do not make loud and obnoxious comments here; as you may gather from the above text, my usually magnanimous patience is quite thin today. Smiting will ensue if the Nomad is provoked.]

I really wanted to see you then, but I just couldn't handle the bitter cold that day -- it made my leg seize up so I could hardly move at all, even in the relative warmth of the house. A warm-weather raincheck would be nice. :)

*giggles* I like that!
*big hugs* I totally understand -- that was a particularly cold day when we went out! Nonetheless, although it makes perfect sense, I was also really disappointed that you were not able to join us -- believe me, hon, you were missed! The solution, then, is quite plain: We must indeed get together to do something fun when the warmth is upon us once again! *grins*
So.... what are your favourite NYC activities in the Summertime? Coney Island? One of the beaches? A Central Park concert? Hmmmmm?

Until my sciatica goes away altogether, I have to do stuff that doesn't involve much walking. I tend to be a culture vulture & love the NYC Opera in particular. I don't see live theater often, though, since it's very expensive -- opera is often cheaper, or ballet, believe it or not. A Central Park concert sounds nice. I also like to go to the zoo -- remember when we went to the Central Park Zoo, a decade or so ago?
I've been to Coney Island once. Went on the rollercoaster and was terrified. I liked the freakshow. Don't remember if I went on other rides then. I'd be up for a Ferris wheel -- they don't bother me as much, even though I'm scared of heights.
I used to go to Fire Island a lot with Edward, to the nude beaches at the Pines & Cherry Grove. I can burn very badly though. (I blister.)
Does that help in making any potential plans?
