Guess what day it is today, gentle readers![*]
That's right! As I am sure everyone has marked in their calendars and has long been anticipating.... today is "Bohemian Rhapsody Day"!
Wow! It's hard to believe that a year has elapsed since the last one! Still, tis true! Bohemian Rhapsody Day comes but once a year!
As you may recall from last year, the appropriate way to celebrate this holiday is to listen to the Bohemian Rhapsody twelve times!
Won't you all join me in the remembrance of this joyous occasion? I will award five hundred points to anyone who comments letting me know that you, too, have honoured this most venerable of holidays![**] Additionally, a bonus of one hundred points can be won by anyone who posts about this in their own journal[***], thus spreading awareness of this important occasion!
And -- brand new for 2009 -- there are now more ways than ever to honour Bohemian Rhapsody Day! This year, the Muppets are getting into the act! Getting tired of the same old classic track by the time it comes around for the seventh or eighth time on your MP3 player? Why not liven things up a bit with this muppetational version:
I wish a very happy Bohemian Rhapsody Day to all of my dear friends!
[ETA: One hundred points have, thus far, been awarded to
autumnquest,
kittybeard, and
blaisepascal for helping to spread the BRD love! Join the club!!]
[*] And please don't say "Wednesday"!
[**] The honour system is in effect here, people. Don't profane Bohemian Rhapsody Day by lying about this. I know these points are valuable, but still...
[***] Or Facebook, or whatever. The medium is not important! What matters is spreading the joy and love that Bohemian Rhapsody Day brings!

If you get bored today -- or just want some distraction from nervousness before your date -- check out the comments and links from last years Bohemian Rhapsody Day (linked above). People posted some of the most bizarre versions -- it was excellent!! *grins*

Welcome back from Hospital Land, hon! *big hugs* It is strange how the nurses discharged you soon after you started celebrating. I never realised that Bohemian Rhapsody Day has serious medicinal potential! Awesome!!

Completely off-topic, but I just ran across a couple of rather nifty science/math-related sites. The first is the LHC Portal (http://www.lhcportal.com/) - it's back in operation, and busily colliding, and there's a whole bunch of information there. The other is a 3-D Mandelbrot Set (http://www.skytopia.com/project/fractal/mandelbulb.html) - the math is quite beyond me, but it's very pretty.

My favourite has always been the Comic Relief skit from the nineties (YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pRKA6lqsfg&feature=PlayList&p=EDABCA7E2C82C562&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4)). That way I get so many of my favourite pop cultures icons all at once: P.G. Wodehouse, FRy & Laurie, and Queen Queen Queen! Not see that touted this year.
Love the muppets tho, of course.
*hugs*

And, yes, Bohemian Rhapsody Day is one of my favourite esoteric holidays! *grin* Adding Muppets make this year special, though! Because Muppets make nearly everything better!!
*returns your hugs... with interest!*

::wipes eyes::
J and I were *howling* at this. We'd had no idea that it was Bohemian Rhapsody day, but I remember listening to the song on the way to my Aunt's on Thanksgiving many years ago (looks it up, it was 1991) and thinking of Freddy Mercury and being very sad. He'd left us on November 24th. Perhaps the 25th was 'Bohemian Rhapsody Day' then too.
I had no idea that Janice could jam on the guitar like that. ;-D

Also, thanks for sharing your story from 1991. Hard to believe he's been gone for that long now! *hugs*
And, yes, Janice was really rocking away there! I wish my video conferences were half as much fun as theirs!! ;-D

Also, that last thing, with Kermit.... I want to do that now. Next T2K-SK meeting?

You said it! And this was really quite a jam session!

Ooooooh -- I like the way that you think! Yes, definitely! I'll chip in to get an electric guitar for your adviser and we can put Kaneyuki-san on the drums! *grin*
Now that would keep me from falling asleep when the meeting stretches on until well past midnight!

I especially like the cast credits at the end, with special mention for 'Death's personal assistant'

By the way, as BRD 2009 draws to a close, I must say that I feel healthy and vital now! Must be all those viewings today! ;-D

I'll watch them when I get home.

I've added your name to the honour roll in this post -- up above -- to mark this. I really like the link that you found, too!
Enjoy your viewings! You may have more variety in your Bohemian Rhapsody than anyone else that I know on the BRD! *grin*
