Can we remove the word "maverick" from the English language? At least until November 5th?

To quote from The Princess Bride: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

ETA Best quote of the debate! Sarah Palin on John McCain: "He is the man that we need to leave." Great Freudian slip!

Okay, dude, you get a hundred impromptu points for "maveramadingdong." Just because...

Ohh I have it set to record on Sky+ tonight I will enjoy watching this.

Probably smarter than staying up until 3:30am to watch, yes.

You will find that it is not as funny as you would expect. No major gaffes, a la the Couric interviews. But that one momentary Freudian slip mentioned above is a smile-worthy moment.

Let me know what you think after you've seen it...

I'm still a little behind with watching the debates TBH. I am only halfway through the first pesdedential one.

You mean it doesn't mean someone who agreed with the establishment 95% of the time?

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

*grin* Exactly! The bloody word has been beaten nearly to death and has become virtually meaningless. Give the poor thing a rest for the next five weeks -- it has earned one!

GAAAH - I really loath her

I think the thing that got to me the most, ASIDE from the bazillionth time she said it, was that it was always said with a good ole nod of the head and a smile. I think she even winked one time.

I believe it was towards the end when I could swear that I saw a toothpaste starshine zing off her teeth when she indicated that they were BOTH mavericks. ::goes off to scrub her brain::

GAAAH - I really loath her

I know what you mean! Oi!

I think she even winked one time.

Yes, the wink came when she was saying how she would try to get John to re-think his opposition to drilling in the ANWR. Grrrrr...

I believe it was towards the end when I could swear that I saw a toothpaste starshine zing off her teeth

HA! Well said! *grin*

And, yeah, this "team of mavericks" thing? What the heck is that?

Then this moron had the audacity to correct Biden, saying that the chant is "Drill, baby, drill" not "Drill, drill, drill." *shakes head in disbelief* She can't get the name of our top general in Afghanistan right, she didn't know what the Bush Doctrine was... but she has the nerve to make a pointless correction like that?

Yeah, I'm right with you on loathing her...

P.S. Watching the interviews with Katie Couric and Sarah Palin, I came to the conclusion that Couric would have been a much better choice for running mate...
