Last night, I rang bells at Mary Mag. It was the last OUSCR practice of Trinity term, so today was the first Wednesday in eight weeks that I did not ring. From now until when Michaelmas term begins in October, I will only be ringing at St. Giles on Thursday, and sometimes Sunday. My weeknights are suddenly much freer.

To fill the unexpected void in my Wednesday evening, we invited C&M over to play Puerto Rico. Our usual weekly gaming session with them had been missed for three weeks, due to the trip to the Lake district, a headache on C's part, and our visit from EB. So it was good to get together again. It was an odd game of Puerto Rico, and I felt off track nearly from the start. At one point, I wondered to myself if I could possibly avoid coming in last. In the end -- to my surprise -- I ended up winning! It was a very close -- and high scoring -- game: I had 62 points, [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat had 61, and C had 60.

There has been a fair amount of goings on here of late that I have not yet had time to chronicle: The long weekend in Cumbria, the rest of EB's visit, et cetera. Just in case I never get caught up, I should at least record the results of recent games: On Saturday night, EB and [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat and I played Settlers of Catan with the president of the University games club. Another close game -- this time I was one road away from winning, but [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat took the game. On Monday, the last night that EB was here, the three of us played Ticket to Ride. Still close, but EB won with 131 points to my 129. Guess tonight's victory at Puerto Rico was finally due me!

Now time for bed. Tomorrow I get to experience the joys of an 8:30am video conference. Hooray!

Hmm. With that subject line, I thought you were playing craps while watching The Threepenny Opera.

BTW, when were you planning on being in Chicago again?

Nope -- I was quoting the first line of the song A New Argentina (sung by Juan Peron) from Sir Lloyd-Weber's musical Evita. Sorry to disappoint! ;-)

Oh, and I will be in Chicago from July 12th until I leave for Starwood on July 22nd or 23rd. *raises an eyebrow* Why do you ask?
