Thursday evening. The bells of Saint Giles waft across the road, once again. Except this time, [livejournal.com profile] resourceress is in there with the bell ringers... possibly even ringing right now!

I would be there, too, but Adventures in Cryogenics have kept me here all day, as they did yesterday. Yesterday morning, I arrived at work at 10am and left at a quarter past midnight, breaking only to attend [livejournal.com profile] gyades dissertation defense via video-conference! (Congratulations again, Moofies!!!) Today, I arrived at a quarter past eight for a video-conference with colleagues in Germany, and am still here... nearly twelve hours later! Unfortunately, our latest effort was also unsuccessful: We never got below 690 mK. It would appear that the cryostat needs to be serviced by a technician from Oxford Instruments.

In any case, I am finally on my way out, heading home to pack a bag... then off to London for the weekend, where [livejournal.com profile] resourceress and I will be spending time with [livejournal.com profile] nw1 and [livejournal.com profile] pomoloco.

Hurm... I need an LJ icon for England related posts. Maybe I can take a photograph this weekend that can be made into one.
