The next games party at the Event Horizon will happen on Saturday June 17th. Although the bi-monthly tradition has lapsed since I became an expatriate, I will be back in the States in June... so a celebration and games are in order!

If you are on my friends list, you can consider yourself invited to this party. If you have been to any of the previous parties, you pretty much know what to expect. There will be board and card games inside, as well as outdoor games (e.g., four-square and frisbee) if the weather permits.

In the past, I have always dragged out the grill and bar-b-qued during the summer parties. However, this usually takes a fair bit of my time. Now that I live in England, I would rather maximize the time that I have to interact and be social. So we will probably order pizza, a la the winter parties, unless there are people who want to volunteer time to the grill. If you are so moved, drop a line (via LJ comment or e-mail) and let me know. As always, there will be drinks and snacks to nosh on during the day.

After dark, if there is demand, there may also be a fire in the firepit.

As usual, the party will begin at 1pm and last until late. Folks are always welcome to arrive earlier than 1pm but, if you do so, be aware that you may be conscripted into helping with the party set-up. An RSVP is always appreciated, but never required. Just showing up on Saturday is okay. As always, crash space is available. If you think that you will need crash space, an RSVP would be especially appreciated so that we can prepare accordingly.

And you folks thought that you were rid of me.....

You would be more than welcome! And there is certainly ample crash space...

Realistically, looking at my travel schedule, the next time I will be back in the States will be early October. So there is likely to be a party on either September 30 or October 14.

Where were you when you came over here? And, of course, if you ever want to come back, you have a place to stay in Oxford!

By the way, will you be attending [livejournal.com profile] resourceress's graduation on June 25? Because, realistically, that is the most likely time that I will see you next.

Re: One of these days....

Hi there, in our trip to the UK we were as far north as Inverness, and as far south as Cornwall. We spent time in London, Bath, Minehead, Glastonbury, Edinburgh, Inverness, and Lostwithiel.

I'll have to see what happens about making the trip to Illinois. It's not easy for my family to travel given our hectic schedules, but I/we might be able to work something out.

Budget-wise, I don't see a trip to the UK in our near-to-mid-term future. :-(

Not sure about Resourceress' graduation yet. I haven't heard much about it, but certainly I will make every effort to be there!

Talk soon

That's quite a nice trip! I just finished a mini-trip, myself, while [livejournal.com profile] cassiopia was visiting. We went to some of the same places as you. We saw Avebury, Stonehenge, the Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, Oxford, and London.

I have not yet been anywhere in the UK outside of England -- basically the above list plus Leeds is where I have been thus far -- but I expect that to change.

Meanwhile, no pressure about either an Illinois trip or a return to the UK. But hopefully I will see you in Massachusetts next month!

Damn too many parties that weekend. I'm already confirmed to be in another state that day. Have fun!

With your travel habits, there is no place on the surface of this planet that is far enough away to assume you will not be back.

I think you would probably also come back from any journeys to the center of the earth, assuming you survived the magma/dinosaurs/what have you.

You MIGHT find the commute from another planet to be too much, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Distance is not a viable method of becoming Nomad-free. I'm just sayin'.

An excellent point!

You do know about my intention to apply for the astronaut candidate position at NASA, right?
