A week from tomorrow, I shall turn thirty-seven, gentle readers. As I had the good fortune to be in Chicagoland in March -- for the first time since 2006 -- I thought it wise to hold an early celebration with my dear Chicago friends[*] on Saturday at the Event Horizon.

Twas a decent turnout, despite being planned with little notice (as this entire visit to Chicago was unexpected until recently) and with people more enmeshed in other activities -- like school -- than during the Summer. As such, I expected about half the number of a typical Summer party, and that is precisely what we got. Seventeen people braved the cold and the snow to celebrate my impending thirty-eighth year on Earth.

A good time was had by all, with a little gaming, lots of delicious food, even more delicious people... and, thanks to the excellent [livejournal.com profile] wiktowasichu, we had a fantastic bonfire after dark. Despite all the recent snow. Huzzah!!

That said, as the end of year thirty-seven approaches, it seems that I should approach life in a fashion that is a bit more serious and sombre. This awareness followed me into the party, which changed the energy somewhat. Click below the LJ-cut to see the result.

Serious and somber )

Clearly this is a sign of things to come, as I enter my late thirties and settle down somewhat...

[*] Plus the lovely [livejournal.com profile] tawneypup, who came out from Michigan for a visit! Yay!!
