Have you ever read anything by the communications theorist Marshall McLuhan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_McLuhan)? His best known book, The Medium is the Message makes an excellent case for how communication is shaped by the form used to transmit it.

I tend to agree, at least broadly speaking, with Dr. McLuhan's conclusions... and I am not particularly ready to embrace a form that requires me to squeeze my messages down to 140 character bursts.

On the other hand, my dear Persephone, I would be delighted to talk to you online sometime, via MSN or AIM. As far as voice goes? Well, we can use a regular phone line! My home phone plan allows me to call the States for free for up to one hour per call! Pretty spiffy, huh? *grin* And, yes, chatting with you more often would be quite lovely, hon!
