The FDA is tenuously hanging on to that controversial question even though it is my understanding that the major regulatory agency for Blood Banks is actually in favor of modifying it due to the increased sensitivity of the testing. IMO, there is currently no reason that the controversial issue should be treated any differently than the tattoo deferral and both would be conservative.
