Lately, I have been having strong urges to get to a water park before the summer ends. So, yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] resourceress and I spent the afternoon at a local place called Cypress Cove. It is a small aquatic park, about eight miles from the Event Horizon. Admission was inexpensive -- only five dollars each -- and they have a decent assortment of slides and whatnot: Three body slides, one tube slide, a tube river, a drop slide, a raised diving board, a large pool. We were there for a couple of hours and managed to get to everything there at least twice.

Of course, like any good junkie, the more you get, the more you want. So now I'm thinking of moving up from the small local park to the large corporatized version: Hurricane Harbor. I'd like to hit this before it closes for the season, but it looks like the only possible day is this coming Friday, Sep 2. Yes, I'm pretty tightly scheduled for most of September. I have vacation time, so getting off from work would be no problem. However, this is not something that I am all too interested in doing alone. So, if anyone wants to play hooky and join me on Friday, let me know by, let's say, Wednesday night.

I am such a water elemental...

When Cypress Park closed -- this was the last day of the season for them -- I was reluctant to head straight home. The weather today was just as amazing as it had been yesterday, so I wanted to stay outdoors. I suggested that we swing by the arboretum that is adjacent to our neighborhood, and [livejournal.com profile] resourceress agreed. We had been there last weekend, hiking around the trails on the East Side. So this time we spend walking around just a little bit of the West Side. Really, it is such a beautiful place.

All in all, this has really been quite a wonderful weekend. And, to give me something to look forward to, I am happy to report that [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat is coming home from Arizona tonight!

Now, then, if only I could manage to get eight hours of uninterrupted sleep...
