anarchist_nomad: (Guess who?)

As of today, I no longer have a valid US passport. As alien as it feels to me, I can no longer leave the country. Well, I could probably get into Canada, possibly Mexico, and maybe even a few of the Caribbean islands... but that's about all. I know plenty of people without passports, and to them this probably seems like no big deal. However, for somebody who has had international flying be an integral part of his life for the past six years, this is a very odd situation to be in. I made international trips six times this year, and my now invalid passport is filled with more stamps than it had been designed to take. So being unable to leave right now is very strange.

Of course, right after lunch tomorrow I will be heading down to the passport office to apply for a new passport, but until it arrives -- probably in late January -- I ain't goin' nowhere...

Oh. My. Goodness. I just noticed shadows outside, which is a sure sign of direct sunlight. Poked my head out the door and, sure enough, the sun is shining and the sky is blue! Holy Moses; I haven't seen the sun since I came back from Phoenix, nearly two weeks ago!

Time to go out and ride my bike, not because I have anywhere to go, but just because I can. Who knows how long I have to enjoy this before the clouds roll back in...
