Just finished seeing a production of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians. It was well done, though apparently the staged version is different from the novel in one important respect: Not everyone dies by the end in this version. Back in 1988, I had been assigned the book as summer reading before starting eighth grade, so I went into the theatre already knowing "Whodunit." Still, it was fun listening to other people try to figure it out. I should re-read the book, though it would mean digging my copy out of a box in the storage space.

I think that this makes the twelve theatrical performance that I have seen this year, though none of them have been on Broadway. Come to think of it, I didn't see a Broadway show in 2003, either... the first year in memory that I did not! This means that I haven't seen a show on Broadway since 2002; a situation that I will have to rectify, possible next week.

In other news, my Utah trip is beginning to wrap up and it has been quite productive. Unlike at the lab, there are several collaborators working here on topics that I am immediately interested in. So being here is a chance to learn and to try things, while knowing that there are people I can turn to if I get stuck. One of my successes this week involved setting up my laptop better. I've had this machine for eleven months, but thus far I have mostly used the Windoze partition because the Linux system had not been well set up. This week I installed a lot of relevant software for working on my laptop, such as ROOT, event displays for both detectors, an upgraded C compiler, and reconstruction software. While at it, I made some personal modifications, like installing a driver for the internal wireless card and setting my background to something more pleasant. For the background, I used a picture that I had taken from a helicopter in Alaska. From here on, I suspect that I will be using my Linux partition more than Win2k.
