It's June 24. One year ago, right now, I was in Illinois and halfway through a two day interview process for the job that I now hold. Wowza -- quite a lot has happened in the past year!
In other news, I had an electrician at the Event Horizon yesterday and today doing some work for us. There were a couple of necessary repairs, like the wiring in the dining room, as well as some additions that we wanted, like installing ceiling fans to conserve electricity. By watching Paul the Electrician work, I learned a bit about how to do these things. Next time I may just try my own hand at the electrical work, provided it isn't too adventurous a job that I want done.
By far, the most amusing part of the electrical work was replacing the old dining room light -- the one that damaged the wiring in the first place. I replaced a perfectly ordinary ceiling lamp with the crystal chandelier that I got second-hand (for free) in January. I'm pretty sure that I'm the only Anarchist I know who has a crystal chandelier in his dining room. :)
