This morning I returned [to Utah] safely from the weekend in DC.

I will admit that before leaving for DC, I had a bit of trepidation about the weekend. Logistical issues weren't working out well and the expense of the trip had gotten to be more than I would have liked. By last Thursday morning, I would have been more than happy to cancel the entire thing if I hadn't already spent a heinous amount on non-refundable plane tickets.

Thus, it is good to be able to say that the weekend went far better than I had expected it to. Things generally worked out well (if a tad costly at times), and even the mainstream liberal march on Sunday -- which I had predicted to be boring as all get-out -- was gangs of fun, largely due to the formation of an "anti-fascist" bloc.

I will chronicle the weekend in more detail later. For now, though, I need to go pack up my stuff in the Motel 6 so that I can move into Kai's guest room for the remainder of my stay in Salt Lake. Better accommodations, and better company than the rowdy "kids" who make lots of noise at night.

Oh, and before packing up I need to get dinner at one of the two veggie restaurants that I have been frequenting. Before I left town, the cute waitress there told me that she would know by Monday if she would be able to free up her Wednesday work schedule so that she can go to see Evita with me.
