So Tuesday began by continuing the sequence of bad news that had been raining down since Sunday afternoon. We brought Foxy and Chirp to the vet; Chirp needed a different vaccine and Foxy was getting examined after her antibiotics had run their course. We were hoping that Foxy's weight loss would have reversed itself and that the enlarged lymph node would have returned to normal. Neither was the case. Feh. The vet does not seem to think Foxy's life is in immediate danger now, but I will not truly rest easy until these two problems are dealt with.
Continuing the bad news train, Tuesday afternoon at work, I began to feel sick. Joy and rapture.
Thankfully, since then, the hits have finally stopped coming. Tuesday evening I had a good workout at my muscle toning class. And Tuesday night,
cheshcat and I had a mellow date together to celebrate our seventh Double-D Day anniversary. After going out for dinner, we came home and played games (Barrel of Monkeys, Lost Cities, Odin's Ravens, and Mancala). Then we exchanged cards & gifts and watched an episode of The Muppet Show before heading upstairs for some quality alone time. It was a really good evening and gave us a chance to re-connect amidst all of the chaos that has been going on around us lately.
Today I largely stayed in bed, hoping to keep myself from getting any sicker. That reduced my productivity, but at least I got to read some Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as finish The OMAC Project in between napping. In the afternoon, I dragged myself out of bed to attend the Fermilab colloquium. This week's talk was by Tufts professor Daniel Dennett, and the topic was Religion as a Natural Phenomenon. It was an excellent talk and quite thought provoking. I am not certain that I agree with all of the speaker's ideas, but they definitely give me something to ponder. For one thing, he made analogy between religious ideas -- indeed, any ideas at all -- and viruses. (Actually, that was one of the parts where I tend to agree with him).
Finally, I have been thinking about how to present science ideas, as per recent requests, in a blogging format. I am willing to give it a go, but I do see some potential difficulties with using this medium. Too late to start discussing them now, but I should do so soon.
