Left Fort Collins, Colorado today and returned home. It was a good little trip, though there is apparently a feed lot about thirty miles away from Colorado State University... so the air yesterday smelled distinctly of cow country. Haven't smelled that much since I moved out of Amherst, MA back in 1996.
The Moof met me at the airport and we headed into the city to see Les Miserables, which has a limited engagement as part of the "Broadway in Chicago" series. This is, hands down, my favourite musical. Since being introduced to the play in 1990, I have seen it performed seven times and I have the libretto firmly entrenched in my memory. It has not been on Broadway in about two years, so this was the first time I saw a performance since taking
resourceress to see it in October 2001...
Last year, I saw ( fifteen plays ) but this year I was off to a slow start. One week ago, I had seen only one play this year: Steel Magnolias. But in the past week, I have been playing catchup. Besides seeing Les Miserables tonight, I went to see The Fiddler On The Roof on Broadway with
pomoloco last Friday, and tomorrow I will see Tom Stoppard's Travesties with
polymorphism.
I love theatre and truly wish I could find the time to go back to acting, but until I stop travelling so much it just does not seem feasible. Next month, a local theatre company will hold auditions for You Can't Take It With You, which is quite a fun play, and I am sorely tempted, but for now I think I will have to remain an enthusiastic spectator.
