Today in History

Today, [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat is 14,061 days old.

"Why is this significant?" you might ask.

Because today, my relationship with [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat is 4,687 days old.

"Huh?" you might reply, scratching your head.

These numbers are significant because, as of today, we have been together for 1/3 of her life.[*]

By complete coincidence, today is also fifteen years since my high school graduation. Following a hot and boring commencement, I went with my best friend JW to get a celebratory pizza. My loving and supportive family attended the ceremony, then promptly dispersed. Sometimes I am amazed at how I turned out okay -- and accomplished -- coming from such dysfunctional roots. In any case, given that my high school years were intensely unhappy, that graduation was significant because it was the end of a very bad chapter in the story of my life.

[*] For what it's worth, today I am 11,779 days old and so, as of today, [livejournal.com profile] cheshcat and I have been together for 39.79% of my life. But that just is not as interesting a number as 1/3, is it?.

Somewhere in between the two.

Not too long ago, within the past year, I realized that the 1/3 mark was coming up sometime soon. At which point I had to calculate the exact date and mark it in my Slingshot so that it wouldn't pass by without me noticing.

Yeah, I'm a numbers geek... and slightly OCD, too!

Slightly??

Did you factor in leap year days? If the answer to that is yes, i'd say you're more than "slightly" ocd.

Which is okay. Because you know that there will never be interviews of folks who knew you saying, "He was always the quiet sort...quite normal, this is such surprise."

Um..... yes

you know that there will never be interviews of folks who knew you saying, "He was always the quiet sort...quite normal, this is such surprise."

Ha! An excellent point! One of the things I like about you -- you can always see the bright side of a situation... and it is not ever an ordinary and boring sort of bright side!

So true!!

Hee!!! We went to the zoo last year and the GMan (who was not quite one year old at the time) got to pet a lion pelt and started crying and screaming.

"That bodes well for his survival instincts."
