Here's a quick update from New York City: The drive on Friday went extremely well. We made the drive from the Event Horizon to
pomoloco's place in just under thirteen hours. This counts the construction traffic getting out of Illinois, getting lost twice, getting pulled over once (only got a warning), and two rest stops. I drove 856 miles in one day, making it my second longest single day drive ever (so far).
Early Saturday morning,
pomoloco and I went to pick up
cheshcat at JFK airport. When we got back, I rested again for half an hour, then
cassiopia and I got New York bagels for breakfast. We met
pomoloco in Madison Square Park, where we fed peanuts to the squirrels. I had squirrels crawling in my lap, climbing on my shoulder, etc. It was great fun. I want one!
After we left Madison Square Park, we walked uptown, passing a Korean parade along the way. We stopped for awhile to watch, then headed up to Central Park. We went to the John Lennon memorial, which
cassiopia wanted to see. Went to the bridge and watched the boaters going by in the canoes. Then we went to the fountain and slowly made our way out of the park. As we left,
cassiopia shopped around for a picture of the Lennon mosaic to replace the poster of it that she had owned for many years.
Taking the subway back downtown,
pomoloco parted ways from us to go back to her apartment (where
cheshcat was still resting from her overnight flight). Since it was a perfectly clear day,
cassiopia and I headed up the Empire State Building to take in the view from the 86th floor. Spectacular. On the way back down, we were silly and bought the photos that they had taken of us on the way up. One more item to add to the scrapbook!
We came down and got back to
pomoloco's apartment around 5pm to start getting ready for the evening. More on that later, though, as it is time to head out to brunch...
